Cultiwool Rockwool Cubes
These high quality rockwool blocks are manufactured to distribute water evenly, making them perfect for hydroponic gardening techniques. They are available in two sizes, 3 inch (75mm) or 4 inch (100mm) and with 2 different hole sizes, small hole to suit 25mm propagation plugs and large hole to suit the 36mm propagation plugs.
Cultiwool growing blocks are known for their uniformity and firmness, and are ideal for growing crops in a hydroponic system. Our high quality stone wool is a clean and inert product. Therefore, it provides a sterile environment and does not contain any harmful bacteria or pollutants which can affect root- and shoot development. It does not lock up or release any substances, ensuring all water and nutrients are available to the plant.
Use the starter plugs for your start prior to transplanting into the larger growing blocks.
Rock wool as a substrate
Rockwool wool is a mineral fiber made out of basaltic rock. The basaltic rock is melted with 1600 degrees Celsius into a liquid substance. From this liquid substance, fibers are spon by high tech fibrerising machines where a binder is added and collected on a belt to form a blanket. By adjusting the amount of pressure, fibre diameter can be controlled and by adjusting the speed of the belt the density of the media is adjusted. The blanket is cooled down in a furnace with different temperature compartments and different airflows where the stonewool get the firmness and final quality.

Use
Rockwool growing blocks are hydrated with your normal, ph adjusted nutrient solution(normally 5.7 – 6.2). Soak the blocks for approx. 60 seconds, over soaking will slow down root development while at the same time, the block should be evenly hydrated.
After propagation, plants can be be inserted into larger rockwool blocks/slabs for hydroponic growing methods.
Cultiwool Growing Blocks with the Large Hole can also be used with Root Riot Propagation Cubes or Jiffy 7 38mm Peat Pellets.
- 3″ and 4″ cubes
- Small hole for use with 25mm plugs
- Large hole for use with 36mm plugs Jiffy Pellets
